Academic Work  /  Avalanche Science
Prior to the Avalanche Science Program, I had learned the fundamentals of snow science through various avalanche courses, mentors, and personal experience.

The formal avalanche science classes were some of my favorite aspects of the two year experience. Building from the basics to advanced concepts and the most current theories tied together what I was seeing in the field and learning in our snow observations courses.

The courses demanded a high level of focus to understand all the topics. We read many journal articles and ISSW papers. The diagrams, videos and multiple approaches to the subject were key to my understanding.

The ultimate proof of digesting of the material, though, was the presentations we gave and the papers we wrote on various subjects.
